

"Sonny" was born on September 1, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to Harvey & Bernice Thrower. He was their 2nd child and 1st born son. Sonny" was a loving brother to older sister, Madeline Hutto, and younger brother, James Thrower, both of Houston, Texas.
Sonny lived most of his life with his parents in their family home on Killough Blvd. in Houston, Texas, where he was able to experience a full and enriching family life. As an adult, Sonny was employed by the Northwest Health Care Center for 20 years. In his tenure at Northwest Health Care, Sonny received numerous awards and accolades for his outstanding performance and reliability.
Sonny was a member of the Northwest Evangelistic Center under Reverend and Mrs. Freeman for many years where he served in numerous capacities including the usher committee. One of his many responsibilities was the collection and accounting of the weekly offerings. He was often teased of counting one for the church and one for Sonny. He was dearly loved by his congregation.
Sonny became a member of Graceview Baptist Church in 2006 under the pastorship of Bryan Donahoo.
One of Sonny's greatest joys was to attend Sunday service. He would spend hours in his preparation. He was adamant about having his attire and his bible ready. One of his greatest pleasures was to memorize the church bulletin and question us all relentlessly on the information. Sonny got joy out of many simple things in his life. Summer vacations, collecting coins, picture slides, puzzles, reading the newspaper, and word game books. But his greatest joy was family. He showed all of his family what unconditional love and acceptance truly is.
Sonny desired nothing more in life than to love and be loved.
