

William Cranston Stoddard (Billy) age 70, passed away on Friday December 13th, 2024 at University Health Hospital in San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents John B. Stoddard, Lenore Savage Stoddard and older brother John B. Stoddard Jr. He is survived by his wife Kim Nyman McConnaughey of 17 years, sister Gloria Stoddard Malmberg and husband Lane. Children of wife Kim - son Robert Zegarelli, daughter Kristi Hobson and husband Brett, and daughter Christina McConnaughey. Christina is also his goddaughter. There are numerous nieces and nephews and grand children. A special note to nephew Eric Malmberg who paid Bill many visits during his illness. He also leaves behind his beloved schnauzers Maggie and Sammie to be cared for by Kim. A special note, Billy and Kim met in school at the age of 14 and always had a special feeling. They reconnected in the early 2000’s and have been together ever since. She was his girl.
Bill was norm in Monroe, Louisiana on October 28, 1954. He graduated from Spring Woods High School and briefly attended St. Thomas University in Houston. He spent his childhood and teen years on swim teams competing in swim meets year round from all over Texas and Oklahoma. He sowed a few wild oats in his 20’s but became a serious adult by the time he was 30. He got a job selling furniture at Finger Furniture and learned he was a natural salesman and leader. He was promoted to Assistant Store Manager at Sharpstown and then Store Manager at Fingers in Humble and then Sugarland. He stayed with Fingers until they closed in 2008. He worked for several different furniture stores in the Houston area, including Ashley Furniture, The Dump, and Texas Furniture Hut until he retired to focus on fighting his cancer. He was a great motivator and trainer of people and was well liked and respected by both employers and employees alike.
Bill and wife Kim attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Katy. He was a huge fan of the Beatles from an early age until his death. He had a huge Beatles collection of books, music, and posters. Bill will be remembered for his humor, kindness, caring for others and generous spirit.
Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11am. Address is 3785 Barker Cypress Road, Houston Tx 77084.
