William Addison Tarver

William Addison Tarver (Bill), born September 14, 1936, near Waco, TX passed away on January 24, 2022 in The Woodlands, TX. Bill was raised in Burnet, TX, attended, and graduated high school there. During his time in school, he was a member of the football team and had a lifelong passion for football. He received a BA in Kinesiology from the University of Texas. Bill also was In The Army, serving for several years overseas before starting his career in education. He started his career in education in Burnet as a football coach and biology teacher. He moved to Houston to continue teaching at Lanier Middle School where he met the love of his life and future wife, Elaine. Elaine and Bill married on June 5, 1965. Bill continued his career in Houston, moving to Lamar High School as a counselor and then into HISD administration where he was in data processing and federal and state compliance. He completed a master degree in Biology from Sam Houston State University. Bill was an avid bowler for most of his adult life. He even achieved the coveted perfect game score of 300. Bill was also a member of the Masons through Valley Lodge in Burnet. He took pride in his membership of SRT and SAR. He was preceded in death by his spouse of 48 years, Elaine, his parents, Jim and Lillian Tarver, and his brother James Tarver. He is survived by his son Mark, daughter Karen Tarver-Shively, son in law, Chris, sister in law and brother in law, Betty and Tom Prentiss, and sister in law Dorothea Tarver, nephews Clint and Luke Prentiss, nieces Rachel Tarver-Williams and Ruth Tarver, as well as many friends and relatives. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, at Forest Park Westheimer from 5pm - 8 pm. Service will be held on Thursday, February 3, at Forest Park Westheimer at 2pm.
