1921-2015
William Robert Zwick (Mr. Bill), 94, went to be with his Lord on April 24, 2015.
Mr. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Maida Lee Johnson Zwick. Born in Walnut Grove, Missouri, March 2, 1921, he moved with his family to Texas at the age of two. They settled in Goose Creek and then in Houston Heights, where he graduated from Reagan High School. He married in 1943 and raised his family in Sheldon.
Mr. Bill was a WWII Veteran, US Army-Air Force, serving mainly at Matagorda Bay where he preflighted aircraft and served as Assistant Chaplain. He was a Civil Service employee who loved to talk about his work at the old Ordinance Depot, which was located at Jacinto Port. He later was employed at the Eighth Army Reserve, located on O.S.T.
Everyone who met Mr. Bill loved him. He was a wealth of information and loved to share his ideas, faith, and knowledge with friends and family. His sweet spirit and welcoming smile touched many hearts. He loved to share his faith at home with visitors and during his many visits to M.D. Anderson Hospital. He shared Bible pamphlets with many patients and their families. He truly loved his Lord and his life is a testament to his faith.
Mr. Bill was devoted to the Lord and his family. He is survived by his three children: William David Zwick (Glenda Joan), Rebecca Anne Mouser (Ronald), and Nancy Louise Brown (Rex). Mr. Bill had six grandchildren: Rhonda Plezia (Rick), Rob Mouser, Lamar Brown (Amanda), Alex Brown, Angie Turk (Doug), and Autumn Epps (Morgan). He had thirteen great-grandchildren: Emilee, Elizabeth, Eva, Ella Louise Plezia, Ryan Mouser and Ronnie Mouser; Maddison, Mackenzie, Paige, and Payton Brown; Maggie and Eddie Turk; and Gwendolyn Epps.
We thank M.D. Anderson, Unity Home Health Care, and Harbor Hospice for their loving care and support during this time. We also thank our father's dedicated caregivers, Geraldine Wilson, Sherry Morton, and Ruth Plumb.
Viewing will take place at Brookside Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:30 with the Graveside Service at 1:30 pm.
