

Mrs. Willie Browder “Mother Browder” was born in Egypt Community, Leon County Texas to Fodia Mae Handsborough and Richard Davis on March 1, 1925. She attended school in Hopewell, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Anna Browder. She has one devoted and loving son, Richard Townsell Browder.
Mrs. Browder worked in the healthcare industry for many years at Lockwood Hospital and she retired from the VA Hospital. She really loved children and believed that she could be a “bridge” for any child but especially for the neglected/abused. She opened her heart and home and became a Foster Parent for the Children’s Protective Services and retired after 27years of service. She loved and prayed for each child that entered her home. She received many awards and accomplishments over the years as a result of her hard work and dedication.
She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and nature, animals, helping others, and loved talking about the Lord.
Mrs. Browder confessed Christ at an early age. She attended church at St. Luke Baptist and St. Mark Baptist churches in Houston, Texas before moving her membership to Bible Way Church of Holiness under the leadership of Bishop J.L. Parker. She has been a faithful member there for more than 50 years. Most of relatives (nieces, nephews, grand and great grandchildren) and almost all of her foster children have worshipped at Bible Way. She loved the Lord and her Bible Way Church Family!
Mrs. Browder is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Frank Handsborough, Felton, Noah and Virgil Handsbur, Oron Smith and John Henry Lusk. Sisters: Vera Williams and Elizabeth Handsborough.
Mrs. Willie Bell Browder is survived by her son, Richard Townsell Browder (Dorothy) of[Houston. Her sister, Georgia Moore of Houston. Sister in Law-Zora Mae Lusk (Lubbock). Grand children-Tammy (Miguel), Tonia and Tarana. Great-gandchildren: Kai, Mia, Camille, Jaxson and Dillon. God daughter-Monica Horn. And a many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone for their support, kind words and prayers. A special thank you to the Bible Way Church of Holiness, especially Elder Holloway, Bishop Parker and Sister Julia Parker, Brother and Sister Williams, Sister White and many, many others. A special Thank you to Mt Houston Baptist Church for your prayers. Thank you to the staff of Kingwood Hospital, Dr. Chava, Providence Home Healthcare, her private duty home caretakers: Sister Crista Sam, Ms. Annie Russel and Brookside Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, July 11, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Grand Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Grand Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home followed by a burial in Brookside Memorial Park.
