

Willie Viola Haynie was born August 20, 1926, and was the second born child of William (Coote) and Viola Haynie of Rosston, Arkansas in Nevada County. She married Mr. Elerbe Stewart of Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1941. Later, she moved to California where Mr. Stewart was stationed in the military.
In 1947, she moved to New York City where she joined the Convent Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor D. C. Wilson. She was a faithful member.
Mr. Stewart passed away in 1958.
In 1970, she moved to Houston, Texas where she joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor, Dr. C. L. Jackson. She continued to serve under the leadership of Dr. Sheldon L. Jackson. She was a faithful member of the mass choir for many years.
Later she married Mr. S. E. Barrs. They were married for 19 years. Mr. Barrs passed away in 1991.
Willie V. departed this life August 29, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, William (Coote) Haynie and Viola Meadows Haynie; her sisters, Charlie Mae Booker, and Gerline Haynie; and brother, Earnest Haynie.
She leaves not to mourn, but to be remembered by pleasant and loving memories, her sisters, Gladys Haynie and Verline Payton; nieces, Cynathia Brown (Sam), Sandra Wilson (Paul), Carol Payton, Gail Payton-Parks (Rodney), Violet Payton Killeen (Patrick), Anniece Haynie; nephew, Earnest Haynie, Jr., and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and loyal and devoted friends.
