Wilma Jean McClain

Wilma graduated from Galena Park High School and received a Business Degree from Massey Business College. Wilma fell in love at 17 with her 18 year old boyfriend, James A. McClain whom she met in Galena Park. They were married on August 31, 1946 and were married for over 60 years. Wilma worked in accounting at a plumbing supply company for five years. She was a lifelong member of Eastern Star and worked with Demolay boys and Rainbow girls. Wilma loved painting pictures, being with friends, family and taking vacations. Very active in her children's lives and many of their friends called her "Mom". She loved her family to the moon and back and we knew it. Wilma was a fantastic parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. We will miss her but we will meet her again one day in her heavenly home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. McClain; son, Jimmie McClain; great grandchild, Summer Parton; parents, Joyce and Hubert Atwood; brother and his wife, Earl and Thelma Atwood; parents-in-law, Doris and Void McClain; sister-in-law and her husband, Stella and Linden Embry.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Parton (David); daughter-in-law, Darlene McClain; four grandchildren, Melody Snow (Arthur), Jeff Parton, Brian McClain (Siobhan), and Britton McClain (Heather); eight great-grandchildren, Cory Cahill (Chloe), Aidan McClain, Breeann McClain, Addison McClain, Raelynn McClain, Tatum McClain, and Maddox McClain; one great-great- grandchild Kaia Cahill; sister and brother-in-law, Odessa Hudson and her husband Leon; and nine nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Parton, Brain McClain, Britton McClain, Cory Cahill, Aidan McClain, and Arthur Snow.

A special thanks to Nana’s Home Place and Jen Barron for her loving care given to Wilma.

A visitation for Wilma will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A committal service will occur Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
