Wilma Lee Teal

She is survived by her husband of 37 years Robert L. Teal, her five children: Susan Stanford, Kim Cleary, Thomas Randall Morris, Diane Castleman and Lori Webb and one stepdaughter, Anna Smith, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Donna Erzen, Shirley Blair, Sandy Dorris and Lavada McReynolds.

Wilma was preceded in death by her sisters, Nadine Blair and Zelda Kronburg, and her parents, John and Opal Blair, a grandson, Kris Palmer, a son-in-law, Austin Ray Stanford, and her daughter in law, Stacey Linn Morris.

Wilma’s greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren whom she imparted her high sense of Christian values, industry, and achievements.

Wilma worked for the Hidalgo County for over 35 years, starting in the county clerk’s office and advancing to court coordinator for five county and district courts.

Wilma’s hobbies included dancing, singing, playing cards and games with friends and she was known to love a lucky slot machine every now and then.

Born Wilma Lee Blair on January 27, 1935, to Opal Jenevieve Blair and John Hayes Blair in Ross County, Ohio.

Being raised during the depression, Wilma learned to stretch a dollar for all its worth and was not afraid of hard work, sometimes working 2 or 3 jobs to provide for her children. She always found a way to provide for her children’s needs and then some.

She was a wonderful cook who rarely used a recipe.

She was well known for making mouse and teardrop costumes and easter bonnets for her children’s elementary school programs.

It is suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
