Wilton Ray Marshall Jr.

Wilton Ray Marshall, Jr. (Butch) was born April 6, 1942 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Dorothy Elizabeth Schneider Marshall (Victoria, Texas) and W. Ray Marshall (Carthage, Texas). He is survived by his wonderful and devoted wife of 59 years, Kathie Ross Marshall, daughter Lisa Verbeke, R.N. and husband Peter and granddaughter Peyton Elizabeth Nichols and grandson Luke Francis Verbeke and son Ross Ray Marshall and wife Natalie and granddaughters Avery Rae Marshall, Arden Lynn Marshall and grandson Charles Thomas Marshall, brother Richard (Dick) Marshall and wife Sue and their children Jeff, Kelly and Grant. Ray and Kathie graduated from Milby High School and Ray graduated from the University of Houston.

Ray spent 25 years with Mortgage and Trust, Inc. as an officer and director. In 1988 he formed Marshall/McElroy Associates, Inc. with C.B. McElroy. They merged in 2000 with Kinghorn Driver Hough and Co. and Ray retired in 2012. Ray was a past president of Houston Mortgage Bankers Association and longtime member of River Oaks Breakfast Club.

Ray dearly loved to hunt and fish especially with his dear friends Lester Lehman, Pat Cagle, Jerry Lowry, Palmer Melton, John Pogue, Ray Driver and Gary Hough.

There was a private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery for family only. There will be a Memorial Service and Reception on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77024.
