She was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on November 30, 1946, to Hilario C. Tello and Petra R. Tello. Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons, Frank Santillan and Carlos Santillan, daughter Diana Santillan-Salomon and husband Willie Salomon, grandchildren, Gabriel Santillan, Elijah Santillan, Diego Santillan, Malena Santillan, Carlos Jr. Santillan, Phoenix and Hendrix Salomon. Her brothers Raymundo his wife Margie Tello, and Hilario his wife Cheri Tello and many nephews and nieces. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Yolanda came from humble beginnings and at a very young age she helped her parents as they traveled state to state for work. She helped care and watch over her two younger brothers as her parents worked out in the crop fields. Her family was her sole focus, and she worried over and took care of them until the end.
She worked in the retail business for Sakowitz and Foleys department stores. Then moved on to work for the Houston Lighting & Power Company for ten (10+) years. She moved to Katy, Texas in 1993 where she worked and retired from Academy Sports and Outdoors.
First and foremost, Yolanda was a dedicated mother to her children. She treasured and embraced every moment with them. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. Always giving what she could and never asking anything back in return.
She loved to garden and enjoyed the outdoors. She had a knack for decorating and filling her walls with photos of her family. She especially loved music and could dance to any beat.
Yolanda will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind, and to be loved by her was a true blessing for all.
