She was born in Seoul, South Korea on July 12, 1926 to the late TaeDong Kwon and YongTae Kim. She graduated from Kyung Sung National Women’s Normal School. She served as an elementary school teacher in the city of NonSan until she married the late Yong Shik Yu on October 3, 1946.
Young In and her husband immigrated to the United States in 1974 and lived in both Houston, Texas and Orange County, CA. For the last seven years, she was an active member of the Salvation Army International Houston Church. Young In was passionate about reading the Bible, and her favorite activity was writing letters to her family and friends.
Young In is survived by her five sons: Byung Wook and Byung Chol, of Houston, Texas; Byung Doo, of Boston, MA.; Byung Kook, of Los Angeles, CA; and Byung Gu, of Chesapeake, VA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Brookside Funeral Home at 4pm on Saturday.
