

Yue Fong Wong, age 101, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024 in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born in Hoi Ping, Guangdong, China on April 15, 1923. She immigrated to the United States together with her husband and six children in 1970.
Yue Fong was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Gang Yat, in 2015. She is survived by three sons: Paul Wong and wife Lily Woo, Patrick Wong and wife Felisa Wong, and Peter Wong; and three daughters: Lisa Chee and husband James Chee, Rose Wong, and Vickie Wong. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Carl Wong, Lauren Wong, Dr. Myra Wong Thi and husband Andy Thi, Marie Wong DNP, Michelle Wong J.D. and husband Gojko Matovic, Dr. Mike Wong and fiancée Julie Nguyen, David Chee and wife Emily Liu J.D., Michael Chee, Sandra Poon PharmD and husband Keli Kelemen, Dr. Patricia Yau and fiancé Dr. Charles DeCarlo, Dr. Katherine Yau and husband Ty Holub J.D.; and three great grandchildren: Elian Kelemen, Alma Kelemen, Anderson Thi.
Yue Fong had a good long healthy life. Growing up in rural China in the 1920s and 1930s, she had the opportunity to attend school for many years until it was interrupted by world events. She was not only good in writing, Chinese calligraphy, and poetry, she was also good in knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She made most of her children’s clothes when they were young with her own free-hand sewing patterns. She enjoyed gardening and her backyard was always full of a large variety of vegetables and beautiful flowers.
The family would like to thank Mom’s Harold house neighbors, especially Arleen and Carol, who always looked out for her and made her feel loved and safe.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Lillian Chan, Mom’s family doctor of many years, for her loving care, and also to care home’s Delia, Helen, Chat, Linda, and Meng for their love and attentive care during her final years.
A visitation for Yue will be held Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM and a committal service at 3:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
