On October 14,1931 in Houston Texas, Yvonne was born to Henry and Hettie Mae Williams. She was the middle child. Her brother Henry Williams Jr. was the oldest and sister Mary Helen Williams was the youngest.
In 1941, they moved from Houston to Hempstead Texas where she attended Bob Burton School from elementary through high school.
Yvonne was what was considered to be a tomboy, she loved doing work outdoors more than indoors. She loved animals, gardening, and anything else that was outdoors. She was a member of the 4H club and won a prize for her chickens.
Due to her brother having asthma, she stepped up to help her father with the outdoor chores including fixing fences. When her father passed in 1947, she took over all of the outdoor chores he usually performed. She even killed a hog and completely processed the meat. During her Senior year, she moved to Los Angeles, California to tend to her Aunt Mary King who had fallen and broke her leg. However, before she could take her finals and graduate a family emergency happened and she was forced to move back to Texas. Later in life, she returned to school to receive her GED and later attended nursing school.
She met Doc Murrell before she left for California and when she returned to Texas, they got married. They moved to Houston and to this union nine children were born, five girls and four boys. Even though they did not have much, Yvonne was able to make sure her children had enough food and clothes. She had a green thumb for growing fruits, vegetables and plants. She became an excellent seamstress and made a lot of the clothing her children wore.
Yvonne and Doc Murrell were part of the original founders of Greater Riverdale Baptist Church in Houston Texas under the leadership of Rev. O.R Brown. They built a house in the Carverdale Community in 1955. They donated the lumber meant for their garage so Riverdale could build a church. She was a member of the Riverdale Church to the end under the leadership of Rev. David Hunter.
On November 2, 2025, she moved to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by Doc Murrell, her father, Henry Williams Sr., her mother, Hettie Mae Harris, her brother, Henry Williams Jr. Her children, Eleanor Ruth Williams Goines, Frederick Charles Murrell, and William Henry Murrell, grandsons Anthony Murrell Jr, Timothy Denmon, Jourdan Concepcion and Mondre Murrell.
