

Ada Schoorl (82) passed away peacefully on December 5th at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House. She was surrounded by her loving family and has peace after a long battle with cancer. Ada was born in Haarlemmerliede, Holland on May 24, 1934. She followed Hank, the love of her life, to Lodi, CA in 1960 where they would build a wonderful life together. She is the fifth of six children born to Maria and Nicolaas Van Warmerdam of Holland. She is survived by Hank, her devoted husband of 56 years and their five children: Andy (Cindy) Schoorl, Maria (Glen) Gollnick, Annette (Marcus) Romani, Frances (Paul) Fogarty and John (Paula) Schoorl. 13 beloved grandchildren Joe (Lesley), Katie, Elizabeth, Marissa, Kara, Justin, Alicia, Anna, Julie, Peter, Brendan, Ella and Evan will miss their Oma and the constant love she gave them. She is also survived by her brother Henk Van Warmerdam and other family and friends in Holland.
Ada and Hank built from nothing the successful Schoorl Dairy in East Modesto and raised their children there. She was a founding member of St. Joseph's Parish and active in the many church activities throughout her life. A longtime volunteer at Doctors Hospital, she served over 2000 hours as a Pink Lady. She supported numerous organizations with generous donations and gifts of her time and talent. A talented seamstress and knitter she created many lovingly made items for her family and in particular hats for the newborns.
Visitation will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson on Monday, December 12, 2016, 5:00-7:00pm, followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at St. Joseph's Church, Modesto at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family would like remembrances to be made to the Hank and Ada Schoorl Scholarship fund at Central Catholic High School, the Alexander Cohen Hospice House or the charity of your choice .
