

Arnold Lee-Roy Gray passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 77. He is now home with the Lord, after battling a long illness for the past seven years. Arnold was born to Evelyn Taylor Gray and Roy Gray, on February 9, 1936 in Turlock, CA. After graduating from Modesto High School, Arnold joined the US Army, where he became a military policeman and played on the US Army football team. After his service, Arnold joined the JCPenny Corporation where he managed several different auto centers for over 18 years. He then went into business for himself until he retired. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Earlier in life, he enjoyed working on cars, fishing, hunting, and flying his airplane. . He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Gray, and older sister, Dorothy Gray. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruby Jones Gray; children, Steve Gray, Andrea Garrett, and Helena [Sergey] Plekhanov; grandchildren, Heather Mendez, Zachary Mendez, Sierra Mendez, and Jenna Rutledge; great-grandchildren, Cali Mendez, Alexis Mendez, and Olivia Gray. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Weaver; eldest sister, Rose Scoggin, and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to honor Optimal Hospice for the kind and loving care that was provided in his last days of life. Visitation will be Friday, March 22 from 4-8pm and Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 23 at 9am. Both services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home (Heritage Chapel) in Hughson, CA.
