Barbara is survived by her children, Rose Marie Crouch (Ronald), Nick Chipponeri III, (Karen), Josie Darlene Newton, (Keith) and John Glenn Chipponeri (Diana) as well as seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Nick Chipponeri, Jr. ; daughter, Terry Chipponeri; grandson, Ronald Gene Crouch, Jr.; sister, Darlene Yvonne Collins;, and brother, Tommy Ralph Moore.
Barbara was born on January 27, 1934, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Pauline Swearengin and raised together with her sister and loving step-dad, Jim Adams. She married Nick, her high school sweetheart, in 1951 before graduating from Ceres High School in 1952 as the class salutatorian. She worked as a bookkeeper and jewelry sales specialist. Together they went on to raise a family of four children.
Her children remember her as a kind, loving, and caring mother who encouraged and loved them in all that they did in life. She spent much of her time supporting family activities including school, scouts, athletics and dance. Family was everything and a lot of time was spent at relatives' homes around big meals.
Raising their children, many weekends were spent camping. Barbara tirelessly ensured all the food, clothes and supplies were packed for these camping trips. As empty nesters, Barbara and Nick were avid participants in a camper club with friends and relatives. Later in life, they traveled the county in their motorhome for months at a time visiting family and enjoying the country’s sites.
Barbara was especially fond of her grandkids. Yearly she picked ornaments for each grandchild for Christmas, and she never forgot birthday cards. She attended many sports and activities for all of her grandchildren. They were the apple of her eye.
Barbara was an avid reader and could beat anyone at Mexican Train. She was soft spoken and tender hearted. She was generous with her love and her warm spirit would warm anyone’s heart. Barbara’s faith in God was important to her and she was a member of the Village Chapel Church.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00am on Monday, July 19th at Lakewood Funeral Home - Heritage Chapel in Hughson, CA. Pastor Paul Crandall will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barbara’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Community Hospice Foundation at www.give.hospiceheart.org. The family would like to thank Bethel Retirement Community and Community Hospice for their care and love for Barbara.
