Bertha Elizabeth Phillips, age 91 passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 in Modesto. Bertha was born in Ceres, CA, where she lived for most of her life. She was employed with Pacific Bell for 37 years. She was a proud member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Telephone Pioneers of America, Ceres and Modesto Senior Citizens. Bertha loved meeting people and made many close friendships that she continues to keep until this day. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Art, her daughter Linda Looper, her parents and brothers Charles and Howard Frank. She is survived by her sons Max (Marsha) Phillips and Mike (Sheri) Phillips, her daughters Judy (Jerry) Scott and Jeanne (Fred) Angleton, son in law Ray Looper, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home Heritage Chapel 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson on Monday August 24, 2015 at 11:00am with a reception to follow at Samaritan Village 7700 Fox Road in Hughson. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, contributions may be made in Bertha’s name to Community Hospice 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
