Charles “Chuck” Risell, 73 years young, went home to be with Jesus on September 25, 2016.
He is survived by his beloved wife Carol, to whom he was married for 52 years; his loving children Linda (Tim) Cullens, Jon (Jennifer) Risell, Kim (David) Hicks, Sheri (Art) den Dulk; his 13 adored grandchildren and 17 precious great-grandchildren; He is also survived by his sister Shirley Doerksen and many other family members and well-loved friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters Lorene Stevenson and Mary Ellen Braun.
Chuck was born and raised in Turlock, CA and graduated from Turlock High in 1960. He attended UCLA and then received a B.S. in Management Science from Cal State LA in 1969. It was while in southern CA that he met and married his sweetheart Carol in 1964. He worked for Lockheed for a few years before moving his family back to Turlock. He received his Masters in Public Administration from CSU Stanislaus in 1982. He worked for Stanislaus County Department of Mental Health for over 30 years before retiring in 2002.
Chuck was a hands-on man, building furniture and fixing things up all around the house. He delighted in keeping his classic cars and motorcycles in order. He loved flying and even owned an airplane. He traveled many places with his wife and friends, and was always sure to document his trips with many photographs. He enjoyed the beach and especially liked to lie out in the sun by the pool. He was always one to make others laugh with silly jokes and drawings. He adored his family and loved being surrounded by them. He was a member of Monte Vista Chapel and found peace in his life through his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Graveside services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, CA on Friday, Oct. 7 at 11:00 a.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Monte Vista Chapel in Turlock, CA on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11:00 a.m.
