DALTON JAMES (JIM) COKER May 14, 1930 - Nov 21, 2017 MARY ALICE (REED) COKER Jun 29, 1933 May 9, 2009 Dad passed away after a short illness and stay at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA. He was born in Phoenix, AZ, but lived most of his life in the Modesto area. After graduating from Modesto High School, he served in the United States Army for two and a half years before starting his career as a Correctional Officer. After retiring from the Department of Corrections, where he worked at DVI in Tracy, CA, he was able to take advantage of the ability to travel and enjoy spending time with his wife.
He was the son of Charlie and Flodell Coker, loving husband of Mary Alice (Reed) Coker, brother of Barbara (Richard) Ball, father of Tom Coker and Terry Coker, grandfather to Craig (Ramona) Coker, Brian (Danelle) Coker, Kevin Coker, Jason Coker, and Marybeth Coker, and great-grandfather to Alissa, Dalton, Blake, Kayla, Katlyn and Kaden Coker, along with so many others that called him grandpa.
The greatest relationship of all times was the one shared between Mom and Dad. When he saw her, it was a "love at first sight and 'til death do us part" kind of love. Their love for each other was so infectious that you found yourself sharing in it whenever you spent time with them. They were blessed with so many friends that became a part of their loving family. After eight years of separation, he has now been reunited with his beloved wife, Mary Alice; please come and celebrate their re-uniting.
There will be a viewing at Lakewood Funeral Home Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside service at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a light luncheon after services.
In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts, please consider making a donation to Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Dad's name.
