

Donald Wayne Carter, 64, died on September 13, 2013, the victim of an auto accident. Don was a 1966 graduate of Davis High School, Modesto. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1970. Don earned his MBA with distinction from California State University at Stanislaus in 1996. He was a member of the ASME, a certified plant engineer, and a registered professional engineer. He served in the Army Reserves for 6 years.
He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Linda (Biondolillo); daughter, Christie Powers (Joseph); sister Carol Verdolivo (Craig); sister-in-law Carol Jones (Bob); brother-in-law, Frank Biondolillo (Sheryll); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James M. Carter and Rose B. Carter.
Don began his engineering career with L & A Engineering. In succeeding years, he became co-owner and CFO of the company currently known as L & A Process Systems. He designed and implemented engineering projects for many wineries and food processing plants in California, as well as other industries both nationally and internationally.
Don enjoyed off-road motorcycling, water skiing, hiking, outdoor activities and his 3 cats. He will be very sadly missed by family and friends. Looking forward to retirement, he and Linda purchased a country home to occupy their retirement years. A principled man with a strong work ethic, he was a family cornerstone with an unparalleled sense of humor.
A chapel service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home (Riverside Chapel), 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA., with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park (Valor Garden) with military honors. Lakewood Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA.
