Edward Vierra Castro

Ed was born to John and Victoria Castro in Denair CA. He enlisted in the Navy 1-3-45 - 4-15-46 and served on the USS Shadwell. Father of eight children with his first wife Alice Mendes and a step-son with his second wife Margaret Winder.

Ed was a self employed dairyman until 1964. He worked and retired from Contadina Foods, and worked a second job inseminating turkeys.

Ed enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to share his many stories about his life and adventures. In 2000 he and his late wife Margaret traveled to the Azore Islands. It was a dream he had and he talked about their time there meeting family for the first time and exploring the Islands. He enjoyed his retirement being around family and friends, having them over for dinner, or going to their homes for dinner.

Ed leaves behind his children Daniel, Glenn (Dana), Steve, Patricia (Jeffrey) Vine, Victoria McAnally and Richard (Deborah), 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Ed was predeceased in death by his parents, John and Victoria, siblings George, Ernest, and David, children Clyde, Sharlene and Raymond, grandson Joshua.

Viewing will be Thursday May 29, 4-8pm with a rosary 6:30-7:30pm. Service Friday May 30 at 2:00pm at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Sante Fe, Hughson CA 95326 in the Heritage Chapel.
