March 15, 2016 heavens gates opened to welcome Elsie home. Elsie was a machinist by trade. After 30 years on the job, Elsie retired, devoting herself to volunteer work. She loved the elderly, becoming a senior companion who drove them to doctor's appointments, helped them with shopping, and being a listening ear to their conversations. She also volunteered for the Salvation Army, Voting polls, Delta Blood Bank, Alzheimer's Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, as well as many other organizations. She also would take food, socks, and warm blankets to parks where the homeless would be. Her passion was helping in any way she could. For herself, she loved the beach, Earth days at the park, and going on treasure hunts at antique stores and garage sales.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, and son Joe Chaidez. A granddaughter Latisha Chaidez, and 3 great grandchildren. Elsie is leaving her love behind for her daughter Debra Hendricks, and son Gary Chaidez. For her 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren she is leaving behind that special love only a grandmother has.
Her final wish is for everyone to know that she loved her Lord dearly, and that she will be patiently waiting to welcome you home.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 am at Bethel One Church on 2361 Scenic Drive, Modesto with burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park at 2:00 pm.
