Juanita was born on March 3, 1926, in Kansas City, Kansas. She passed away on Nov. 22, 2023. Her mother passed away shortly after child birth so she was raised by her grandparents, William and Evelyn Lane. There were nine other children in the family, and when Juanita was three years old the family moved to Miller Missouri.
Juanita attended grade school and high school in Miller. She met her future husband, Basil (Jack) Jackson at a “Donkey Baseball “ game. They dated for three years and married in May, 1942. After WW II, they moved to Modesto in 1949, along with their two young children, Edward (Jackie) Jackson and Elaine Jackson (Bartels). Jack had promised Juanita’s parents that he would either bring her or send her back to see them every year, a promise he kept.
Juanita and Jack immediately joined First Southern Baptist Church, which many years later would become Orangeburg Ave. Baptist. Juanita became the church secretary in 1962 and served in that capacity until she retired in 1984. Juanita and Jack served the Lord together until his death in 2001. Juanita continued to be actively involved in her Sunday School class and the Senior Saints
Before his death, Juanita and Jack had many years in retirement together. They were able to travel all over the world. They especially enjoyed camping at the Dardanelles where they would spend 3 months each summer. After Jacks death in 2001, Juanita continued this tradition alone, until 2018, age 92.
Juanita is survived by her two children, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at 11am on 12-12-23 at Orangeburg Ave. Baptist Church, 313 East Orangeburg, Modesto. Remembrances can be made to this church.
