Fallis was born on August 25, 1924 in Abilene, Texas to Frank R. and Myrtle (Fallis) Carson. He was raised in west Texas and volunteered in Sept 1942, joining the Army. He was a mechanic in a medium maintenance ordinance company until being discharged in 1945. He married Vallie Marie Wade on December 14, 1946 in San Angelo, Texas. They moved to Modesto, California in 1947. He was a carpenter who later worked 35 years for Pacific Telephone retiring as a maintenance splicer.
He enjoyed building houses, motorcycles, antique cars, and fixing things. He was a craftsman at whatever he did. His greatest joy however was spending time with his family.
He was a man of courage, integrity, modesty and compassion. He was respected, generous, funny and a joy to be around. He appreciated everything life had given him. He was a kind and devoted husband, father, and friend. His motto was "To have a friend, you have to be a friend." By whatever measure, he was the kind of man you would be proud to know.
He is survived by Vallie, his wife of 65 years, sons, Terry Carson, Frank (Georgia) Carson, Brian Carson, daughter, Rhonda Eriksen, nephew, Mark McBumey and sister Carolyn Clifton. He was the proud grandparent of 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Fallis died Saturday, June 30, 2012 in the home he built surrounded by the family he loved and held dear. He was predeceased by his mother, father, and brothers, Pat and Marvin Carson.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Stanford University Hospital and Community Hospice for their care and kindness. A service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in Hughson, California, with a reception following in the Riverside Hospitality Room.
