

Franklin Patrick Holmes, age 80, passed away late Tuesday night, July 1st, 2025. He was born on December 29th, 1944, in Oakdale, California, to Franklin John & Claribel Irene Holmes. After graduating from Oakdale High School in 1962; and, shortly following in 1967, a Baccalaureate of Arts Degree in Economics from Fresno State University; he was drafted by the US Government to serve in the US ARMY - CG 8th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces of the United States of America - at Bad Kreuznach, Germany, where he served Honorably.
Alongside his wife, while residing in Waterford, California; he served his community as a Christian and a role model, always the faithful husband and loving father, while employed as the Manager/ Butcher of the Meat Department at the local 'Valley Food Center/ IGA' - I.E., the PIONEER Market - from 1977 until his retirement.
His kindness and giving nature will always be remembered by all who encountered him, as his passions were many; yet, most important was the time spent with family and friends. His prime interests included his grandchildren: Kalie, Devon, Shane and Isabela; the researching of History, Catholicism - [a member of the Knights of Columbus - Fourth Degree] - and the enjoyment of sports, too.
He is survived by his Son, Sean (Xenia) Holmes; his daughter, Maghan (Dan) Steckman; sister, Adele Brachtenbach; brother, Robert Holmes; & several nieces, nephews and four grandchildren. Preceded in death are his wife & mother of his children, Betty Ann Holmes; his parents; and his elder sister, Wanita G. Disney.
The family would like to thank the Catholic Church & its congregational members for their historical leadership & fellowship. Prayers are welcome & encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Church or local Christian Pregnancy & Health Center.
