Gary Curtis Choate, 59, born to Curtis and Irene Choate, entered into rest on August 22, 2012 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Gary began working at the young age of 16 as a butcher apprentice. He continued his life long career working for Save Mart for over 39 years, before retiring in 2008.
When not at work, Gary enjoyed being an avid outdoorsman. In his younger years he spent most of his free time out fishing and hunting with his "buddies " as he referred to his close friends. He also loved to play pool and darts. He could be found quite often showing off his trick shots to his friends and family. Gary made many friends with his big smile and funny personality. He was always cracking jokes and even up to the very end he was still clowning around and making us smile.
Gary was a wonderful son and father, who will be greatly missed by his family. He leaves behind his mother, Irene Choate; sister, Gail (Stu) Welch; half-brother, Mike Choate; aunt, Jolene Costa; daughter, Medina Choate; sons, Jarrad & Jacob Choate; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Dylan Choate. He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Choate.
We thought of you with love today but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. Now all we have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake with which we'll never part. God has you in his keeping; we have you in our hearts.
Funeral Service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home (Heritage Chapel) on Tuesday, August 28 at 11:00am. Anyone wishing to make donations, please do so to either the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 1-800-227-2345 or Lung Cancer Alliance, P.O. Box 418372, Boston, MA 02241 1-800-298-2436.
