Gerald Lynn Goolsby

Gerald Lynn Goolsby, age 85, of Modesto, California passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024. Born on June 18, 1939, Gerald was a devoted family man and was in the US Navy, where he served for four years onboard the USS Yorktown. After his military service, Gerald spent most of his career in construction, working for the operating engineers. His work included building overpasses, dams, tunnels, and at the Jenny Lind and Tracy Rock Plants. Gerald graduated from Modesto High School. He was a man with a charitable heart. His hobbies included boating, photography, traveling, and he was particularly famed for his excellent chili. He traveled, visiting several countries with his beloved wife Mona and other family members.

These adventures allowed him to capture his experiences through his lens.

Gerald is survived by his children, Brad (Tammy), Valerie (Larry), and Doug; nephew Steven (Tammy); grandchildren Kelli (Jason), Derek (Liz), Katie (James), Derrick (Ashley), and Ryan; 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mona, his parents Laroy and Helen, and his brother Wayne.

A funeral service for Gerald will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326. In lieu of flowers, donations to veterans' organizations would be greatly appreciated in honor of our dad.
