Helen was known for her love of Christmas sweatshirts and earrings. She became Mom, Nana, or friend to just about everyone she ever met. Her favorite pastimes were family game nights, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her church family from the Empire Church of the Brethren.
“My mom was the strongest person I ever met. Having suffered Spinal Tuberculosis as a child, and with severe arthritis in both hips, there wasn’t a day when she wasn’t in some kind of pain. Yet through it all, she would always be there to lend a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, or a laugh when you needed one the most.” (Tonna)
She was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, but found her true home in Northern California. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Lee Campbell, and her daughter, Sherryde Thrasher. Helen is survived by her daughter, Tonna Madsen (Truels), and sons, Darryl Hackett (Amy), Brian Hackett, and Mark Thrasher, twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren.
