Herman Eugene McGhee

Herman Eugene “Gene” McGhee entered into eternal rest July 20. 2025. Gene is survived by daughters, Sherri Blocher (Calvin), Tanya Escobar (Anthony), grandchildren Cole Blocher, Kristin Meurer, Branden Escobar, Joshua Escobar, Aaron Escobar and 4 great grandchildren. Brothers Wayne McGhee (Raeanne) and Stan McGhee, sisters Jackie Hayes and Beth Gaylor as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Delores McGhee, parents Herman and Marguerite McGhee, brother Cliff McGhee and beloved sister Pam McGhee.

Gene spent his early life in Hughson, California and was a 1965 graduate of Hughson High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, a good movie and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Genes favorite activity, however, was enjoying a cup of coffee and visiting with friends. Friendship was one of life’s greatest treasures to Gene. Lifelong friends remember his loyalty, humor, and capacity for a good joke.

He was also known to “go up the hill” on occasion, and could be found at Chicken Ranch, Jackson or Black Oak playing the Keno machines for a “5 spot”.

Gene retired from United Parcel Service and was a member of Teamsters Local # 386. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union, serving as Shop Steward and Trustee.

Visitation service will be held Monday August 4th, 2025 10-2 at Lakewood Funeral Home, Heritage Chapel. Bring your memories, stories and laughter as we gather to remember Gene.
