

Charlie "Chuck" was born in Craig County, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, he moved to California, and shortly thereafter began his career with P.G.& E. He worked for P. G. & E. for 30 years and retired as a Tractor Operator "A". He lived out the remainder of his years in his beloved Mariposa, where he would sit for hours on his deck overlooking Mariposa Creek. Charlie was a KCRA weather watcher from 1988 until his death and was known as "Mariposa Charlie." Charlie served in the Army Reserves from 1954 to 1962. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mariposa, the American Legion of Mariposa, and the Elk's Lodge of Oakhurst. Always outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. His other interests included NASCAR, football, and his annual trips to the Mid-West to visit family. Charlie's last and favorite trip was in July of this year. He and his wife took an Alaskan Cruise to celebrate his 75th birthday with a group of friends from Mariposa.
Charlie was the youngest of four children, and is preceded in death by sisters June Graves and Mary Ellen Blankenship and survived by sister Laura Mills of Missouri. He is also survived by his wife, Gloria, his children; Martha Sherman, Keith Kampfen, and Kim Robison, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two aunts, numerous nieces and nephews and an extended family of P.G. & E. brothers.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 28th from 4 PM to 8 PM, with a chapel service on Saturday, Dec. 29th at 10:00 AM, both at Lakewood Funeral Home (Riverside Chapel), 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA.
