Born on March 7, 1940, James built a life anchored in love, loyalty, and an unbreakable partnership with his wife of 43 years, Patricia Payne. The two were married on March 7, 1976, in Escalon, California, a fairy tale beginning to a lifetime of true companionship. James was Patricia’s rock, and Patricia was his rose. They were soul mates in every sense of the words, proof that some people are simply meant for one another.
Together, they built a home filled with laughter, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the people who mattered most. Through the years, they enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, fishing, and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and extended family. After Patricia’s passing, James carried her with him every day, never removing his wedding ring as a symbol of their love and unbroken bond.
James loved all sports and proudly supported his local teams, the San Francisco Giants and the Golden State Warriors. But above all, he LOVED his San Francisco 49ers. Red and gold ran through him, he had 49er pride through and through and never missed a game. Win or lose, he stood by his team with unmatched dedication.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Verna E. Payne and William H. Payne, and by his beloved wife, Patricia Payne.
James is survived by his two daughters, Jamie Regalado and her partner, Richard Miranda, and Kristie Pearmund and her husband, Nigel. He also leaves behind his grandsons, Spencer and Riley, as well as his siblings Anna Lee White, John Payne, and Pearl Lentz, and his loyal companion and friend, his dog Bo.
James had a quiet, unassuming way about him. He will be remembered for his gentle demeanor, his love of the outdoors and sports, and the enduring love story he shared with Patricia.
