John Upton Fernandez, Sr., 72, of Delhi, passed away August 26, 2017 at Emanuel Medical Center. John graduated from Vallejo High School and attended college for a short time. He was married to Zita Garcia on December 23, 1979 in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico. John was a retired truck driver and worked for many different companies throughout his career. He ultimately started his own trucking company. He had a passion for traveling, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
He was survived by his 3 children, John Upton Fernandez, Jr., Julianna Fernandez, Denine Renee Fernandez; 4 grandchildren Christina Renee Fernandez-Reyes, Rachel Marie Fernandez-Reyes, Brandi Lynn Fernandez-Reyes, Julia Grace Barrett; 2 great-grandchildren Yazi Janoa Beuster, Ha’ani Maria Quichocho; 2 nephews Joe Reyes, Frank Hunt. Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lakewood Chapel Funeral Home in Hughson. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m., following visitation.
