

Born on March 11, 1950, John lived a life defined by kindness, service, family, and dedication. He was known for his warm heart, gentle spirit, and ever-present smile. Those who knew John remember him as someone who was genuinely kind, welcoming, and always willing to brighten someone’s day.
John proudly served his country as a Vietnam War Veteran, carrying a deep sense of duty and honor throughout his life. He also worked as a truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication. In addition, John spent 9 years as a valued member of the restoration team at Castle Air Museum in Atwater, CA, where he combined his love of aviation and airplanes with his skill and passion.
John shared 52 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Kathy Ann Hogrefe. Together they built a loving family and a lifetime of cherished memories.
He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Karianne Moody of Annapolis, Maryland, and Kendra Renner of Modesto, California. John’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, Finn, Grace, and Cora, who brought immense pride and happiness to his life.
John had a deep love for planes, history, family, and simple moments spent with those he loved. His kindness, easy smile, and caring nature touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John leaves behind his loving wife, daughters, grandchildren, family, friends, and all whose lives were made better by his presence.
His legacy of service, compassion, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
