Joe Ramirez died peacefully in his home on August 26, 2015 surrounded by his family, relatives and friends. Joe was 89 years old and died of natural causes. Joe was born and raised in Del Rio Texas. During World War II, he left high school to join the army where he played the tuba in the marching band and string bass in the dance band. After returning to Del Rio he finished high school, got married and had one son, Roger Ramirez. Years later he moved to California to work in the cannery, where worked for 40 + years. While working for Tri- Valley, he met Lillian Buerer and remarried in 1961 and proceeded to have 5 children: Dot Ramirez, Dolores Ramirez-Welch, Linda Ramirez-Rainey, Brenda Ramirez-Ellsworth and Joe Ramirez Jr. After retiring from Tri-Valley he got his real estate license and sold real estate for several years.
Joe and Lillian enjoyed going to all of their children's and grandchildren's many athletic events and musical performances. He also enjoyed playing practical jokes and visiting his relatives.
He is survived by all his children previously mentioned as well as Grandchildren Travis and Jessica Ellsworth, Zachary Rainey, Chenae and Breanna Ramirez, Son-in-law Kevin Ellsworth, Daughter-in-law Barbara Ramirez, extended family Melanie McDavid and Michelle Tracy.
Services to be held at Lakewood Memorial Park & Funeral Home 900 Santa Fe Ave. Hughson, Ca 95326; Viewing Tuesday Sept. 1, 2015 from 4-8pm., chapel service Wednesday Sept. 2, 2015 at 2pm. Both to be held in the Heritage Chapel. Guestbook available online at www.lakewoodhughson.com.
