

LOVED, APPRECIATED, TREASURED – Juanita Stark Coburn, a longtime resident of Hughson, passed away in Modesto on Tuesday, March 8th. She was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, to the late “ARKIE” and Erma (James) Stark. Juanita’s family moved to Roswell, NM in the early 1930’s and then to El Centro, California. Juanita met her husband, Gerald “Wayne” Coburn shortly after her family moved to Hughson, in 1937. She and Wayne were married on his birthday in November of 1940.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by her sister, Lois Whittle of Tuscumbia, MO. A lady of many talents...musician, seamstress, cook and caring friend to many. Her Favorite past-time was playing her guitar and singing in her father’s western band. Juanita is survived by her brother Charles “Bertis” Stark of Inyokern, CA, her children, Gerald and Margaret Coburn of Denair, Carolyn and John Wheatley of Elk Grove, CA and Darlene Lepper of Hughson. She was the cherished grandmother of Burch and Lori Coburn, Todd and Nicki Coburn, Cosetta and Jerry DePalma, Blair and Chris Wheatley, Brooke and Michael Stevens, Vance and Heather Wheatley, Jason and Marla Drake, Lisa and Larry Meyer and the adored great grandmother of 19 and the great great-grandmother of 4. We wish to thank the staff at Casa de Modesto for their compassion and kindness.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson. Remembrances may be made in Juanita’s name to the charity of your choice.
