

Karen Elizabeth Lofton was born on July 29, 1942 in Modesto, CA. She passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026 at Valley Comfort Assisted Living Facility on Lou Ann Drive in Modesto, CA. She was 83 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gale Norman Lofton; her son David Arthur Lofton; her parents Arthur Nels Nelson and Leila Jean Nelson; and her brothers Dwight Nelson and Alan Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter Lori Lofton; her grandchildren Aden Nelson, Blair Sheafer and Kaasha Patton; one great-granddaughter Aubree Kelley; and siblings Sonja Perino (Albie), James Nelson (Linda), and Janet Lewis (Mike).
Karen grew up on the corner of Beckwith Road and Dakota Avenue in the Wood Colony area of Modesto, CA. She attended Hart-Ransom grammar school from first to eighth grade. She attended Modesto high School and graduated in 1960. Karen spent some time at Modesto Junior College before she joined the workforce; she was a good problem-solver.
Karen went to work for the Welfare Department as a secretary. She was a hard worker and very good at her job. Later, she worked for Tri-Valley growers also as a secretary. She always received high praise from her superiors. She worked for Tri-Valley until her retirement.
Karen was soulful, kind, and loving. She had a heart as deep as an ocean and we know that the only lasting beauty is the beauty of the heart. Faith played a big part in her life. Faith is wonderful because it brings a momentum from inside when you're troubled by everyday life. She had a strong faith in God, and she is reunited with her family and loved ones who went before her. Rest in Peace. You are loved.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 6th at 11:00AM, located at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson CA, 95326.
