Leon Jarrett passed into our Lord's hands on May 31, 2011, at the age of 73. Leon was born in Modesto. He worked as a truck driver for Texaco and Union Oil for 38 years. He owned and operated a small almond and walnut orchard business, which was his pride, joy and passion. Leon married the love of his life, Rosella Comstock Hensley, on Sept. 13, 1969. They enjoyed a wonderful life together for 41 years. Leon loved our Lord and was a Member of Shelter Cove Community Church in Modesto. All who knew him loved him. Leon loved the outdoors and the wonders of nature. He enjoyed camping, fishing, animals, and joking and laughing with his friends, family, and neighbors. He also loved being a farmer.
Leon is survived by his beloved wife, Rosella of Modesto, children, Charles (Mary) Hensley of Aurora, CO; Theresa Flores of Sonora; grandchildren, Jessica (Charles) Hyde of Tuolumne, Michael Harmon of Sonora, David Hensley, of Modesto, Brandi, Karen, and Bobby Hensley of CO; great grandchildren, Charles II and Laurence Hyde, and Mia and Madison Hensley. Also a nephew, Danny Hardwick of WA and two cousins, Erma Avila and Warren Beckwith, of Modesto. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Elwyn and Audree Jarrett and sister Arlene Hardwick.
Viewing will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 8 from 4-8pm. Private family burial will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park followed by a Celebration of Life at Shelter Cove Community Church on Thurs., June 9 at 12Noon, at 4242 Coffee Rd, Modesto.
