Leonard Carlton Turner, age 65, completed his journey in this life on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife, brothers and friends and passed in the peace and comfort of his home.
Leonard was the eldest of 4 boys born to William and Marionel Turner in Coalinga, CA, September 6, 1949. When he was 7 years old, his father suddenly passed away and shortly after, the boys moved to Ballico to live with their relatives, Chet and Dodie Kruppa, and their young son, Carl. He graduated from Coalinga High school in 1967 and after a year of college he joined the Navy. He served on the aircraft carrier, Coral Sea during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971.
He took up farming in Ballico after the military. He also got his real-estate license and developed a passive solar home, and marketed a water purification system for industries. He was always open to new ideas and better ways of doing things.
In 1974, he met Dr. Nora Loder, a Bible teacher in Modesto, CA who helped direct him on his spiritual path which was the anchor for the rest of his life. He became a Bible student and preached and sang in the ministry. This is when he met the love of his life, Christine Goutiere who was a friend for many, many years. Their spiritual path led them into the Saint Germain Foundation, a World Wide Christian Organization. In 1988 he and Christine got married and began a fun-loving, spiritual team of leadership and service that continues to this day. He and Christine are the Sponsors of the Modesto "I AM" Sanctuary.
He served as President of the "I AM" School, and in 1997 facilitated its move to Mt. Shasta from Colorado, for further expansion. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Saint Germain Foundation based in Chicago, up to his passing.
Leonard was also a true patriot and loved America. For about the last 15 years he has played the part of John Adams in a patriotic play depicting the Declaration of Independence. He looked and sounded like the fiery patriot himself!
During the mid 1990's Leonard had been working with a new agricultural electro-static sprayer for orchards. He and a friend Elroy DeWinkle began the company, Progressive Ag, Inc., to manufacture and sell this new technology. They developed and patented the new electrostatic spray heads and the company took off. In 1999 He and Elroy split the business. Leonard took over the powder coating portion and developed Progressive Powder Coating, Inc.
It was his youthful enthusiasm that people loved to be around. He had a zest for life and a great sense of humor which you could see in the twinkle of his blue eyes. He would often blow through his thumb to pump up his biceps - tricking the children! He is loved by all as a mentor, brother and friend, always willing to listen, help and give people a chance to excel. He leaves a legacy of blessings in his wake. He will forever be an inspiration to those whose lives he touched.
His family celebrates his life with you: his beloved wife Christine, brothers: Wayne (Debbie), Jim (Chris), Ken (Joy), and Carl (Nan); 3 sisters-in law: Wendi Schroeder (Roy), Rani Milldrum (Craig), Alice Cuccuini; 11 nieces, 7 nephews, 14 great-nieces and nephews and hundreds of dear, dear friends around the world!
His Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 2:00 pm at Lakewood Memorial Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA. Reception will follow at St. Anthony's Church, 7820 Fox Road, Hughson, CA.
