Mary Ruth Harris

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Harris; three grandchildren, Wade Carson, Cassandra Fairbanks, and Zachary Fairbanks; her parents, Charles and Mabel Shook and sister Lois Taylor. She is survived by her brother Earl Shook, sister Helen Stephen’s brother Robert Shook, brother Ernest Shook and sister Marilyn Gray: Children, Steve (and Cindy) Harris, Lisa Carson, Kristina (and John) Alameda, Diana (and Andy) Perez: 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In 1959, she graduated from Argus High School in Tulare, California before moving to Modesto, California, where she met the love of her life Melvin Emmitt Harris. They married on July 20, 1963 and began their family on May 9, 1964. She began working at CVC’s in 1969, before joining the Post Cereal plant in 1976, she retired after 35 years.

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friends. She was a loving stepmother to her stepdaughter Dee Robertson and welcomed Dee and her family with open arms. She loved photography, SHOPPING, gardening and most of all she loved her jams in every flavor especially tayberry.

Services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326 on Saturday August 3, 2024 at 10:00am in the Heritage Chapel. Reception will be in the Riverside Chapel.
