Michael Eugene Crisp

Mike passed away suddenly at his home in Modesto on Saturday, March 30, 2013 while working in his garden. He was excited to get the vegetable planters ready and was looking forward to nurturing his plants into good summer grilling. Mike was a Modesto native, graduated from Downey High School, and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Modesto Junior College. Mike always had a love of fast and shiny cars. During his college years he was a member of the Faros Modesto Car Club, which led him to work in the automotive parts and paint industry for 16 years. He then changed careers and became a Head Custodian for Sylvan Union School district. Mike enjoyed his 26 years with the staff and students before retiring in June 2012. He enjoyed traveling in the RV, vacation cruises, NASCAR, and working around the house. Mike was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the Modesto Elks, and the Goodtimer's RV Club. He is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Lois Crisp. Mike is survived by his wife Karolyn, daughter Renee (Shannon) Phillips, sons, Sam ( Jenny) Langpaap, and James ( Sarah) Langpaap, sister, Cynthia Neil. Being a grandpa brought many happy times and laughter with his six grandchildren: Hailey, Jake, Chelsea, Ethan, Lorna, and Lillie. Mike also leaves behind a niece, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. A memorial service will be held to honor Mike on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the Lakewood Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's name to the Modesto Elks #1282 or the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
