Born in the Azores on the island of San Miguel; Nelson traveled to the U.S. with his mother when he was six months old. Nelson attended Modesto High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Connie Sue. After high school they married and started a family. Nelson was a jack of all trades, having various types of jobs throughout his life. Most recently as a security guard. In 2004 he was diagnosed with ESRD in which he began dialysis.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Maria and John DeMello, and his wife, Connie DeMello. He is survived by his daughter, Julie DeMello of Modesto and his sister, Bernadette DeMello of Khob Lick, KY.
Nelson was a great man; loved by everyone and would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Feb. 11th from 4-8:00pm and a Chapel service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12th at 1:00pm. Both will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, Heritage Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA.
