Sometimes a loved one is taken from us too soon. This is the case of Paula V. Bowen, at age 65. My wife Paula and I were married for almost 46 years and dated for 1 1/2 years prior to that, living in Modesto all that time. She was born in Ceres, but was raised in Hughson. She was a housewife most all those years, with a few stints working for local businesses.
Through the years, besides being a housewife, she enjoyed traveling, reading, listening to music, cooking at home, donating her time to bake cookies with her sister Tess, at the time Hospice House in Hughson, which really made them popular with the staff and patients of Hospice House, and rasing our two daughters, Natalie Ann and Jenny Logan. She was involved in their education and never missed a soccer or softball game. While they attended the brand new Martone Elementary School in Modesto, Paula became the first PTA President and held that position for two years.
Paula very much enjoyed being with her family. Her parents, John and Egle Casazza passed away many years ago, but she spoke many times of them and the good times they had together, as well as her close relations with her Uncle Tom and Aunt Anita Mayfield. They were like 2nd parents to her. She also left her sister, Tess Camagna (Richard deceased) who was far more than just a sister, and her brother, John Casazza and his wife Suzanne, were always there to help her in anyway possible, especially at the end. Those relatives mentioned above were held extremely tight in her heart.
Other family left behind as mentioned above are daughters Natalie Ann Alves (Joe); granddaughter, Shelby Ann Jenny Logan Bowen; mother-in-law, Janice Bowen; sister-in-law; and very close friend, Joan Cardoza; and many nieces and nephews, who adored their LaLa Paula.
Anyone wishing to leave a remembrance in Paula's name, please donate to Community Hospice at 4368 Spyres Way, in Modesto, CA 95356. Paula lived a very loving life with no anger. She was a kind soul and had no enemies but left this world with so many loving friends. She will be so very missed.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Del Rio Country Club, 801 Stewart Rd., in Modesto, beginning at 11am on Sat., Sept. 1st. Our family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Alexander Cohen Hospice House for the loving care they gave to all of us.
