He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sheila (Pascoe) Gianfortone and their children Lia and Nicholas “Nick”; his mother Margaret (Velasquez) Gianfortone; his siblings Karen (Mike) Zgraggen, Kathy (Matt) Rodriquez, Lisa (Roger) Weisbrod, and Paul Gianfortone; as well as many beloved nephews and nieces, and friends that he considered family.
Phil was preceded in passing by his father, Philip Rosolino Gianfortone.
Phil was raised in Fremont, California. He graduated from Mission San Jose High School and then attended CSU Chico, earning a degree in Construction Management. While there, he was a proud member of the TKE fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. After graduation, he moved to Sacramento and began working for a construction company, where he met his wife.
The two started out their married life in Tucson, Arizona where Phil was employed by Granite Construction. The couple later moved to San Diego, followed by La Quinta. An employment switch to Teichert Construction led to his final residence in the Turlock, California area. When an opportunity arose to become a partner with Mozingo Construction in 2004, Phil’s dream of being a business owner was fulfilled. He had a gift for numbers, and was very successful and proud of the business that he helped build. Throughout his long career, he forged many friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Phil was a devoted father and husband. He enjoyed spending time with his family, supporting his children in their sports and academic careers, teaching his kids to snowboard and ride dirt bikes. In addition, he joined in his wife’s love of German Shepherds and they have owned many throughout the years.
Phil loved the outdoors, adventure, staying active and being social. He had a great sense of humor and above all else, enjoyed making people laugh. He often camped with friends, went 4-wheeling in his Jeep and he had a passion for riding dirt bikes which he shared with many friends. He thoroughly enjoyed working in his shop on various projects and vehicles. It was once said that he let no grass grow under his feet and that was a motto that he was proud of: he lived life to the fullest.
The couple attended New Life Christian Center. During his last year, he needed to slow down due to health reasons, which allowed him to spend more time with God, family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, November 14, 2024 at New Life Christian Center in Turlock, California. There will be a reception following.
