David Cox, age 80, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Dec. 14, 2012. David was born in Checotah, Oklahoma and came to Modesto at an early age. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, and four brothers. He leaves behind his wife Brenda Joyce Cox, daughter Davina Cipriano (husband Paul), granddaughter Zoe, stepson Zack Truitt, brother Kenneth Cox, sister Shirley Usrey, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. David served in the Korean War and was discharged from the US. Army in 1954. He was a barber in downtown Modesto and then went to work as a Cook Supervisor and Deputy at the Stanislaus County Honor Farm and jail. He retired from Stanislaus County in July 1993 after 23 years of service. David loved to be involved in real estate. Over the years he owned several properties, including owning and managing the 4th Street Lounge and other commercial buildings on 4th Street in Ceres, CA. David had many friends and was loved by all. A viewing will be held on Wed., Dec. 19th, from 4-8 p.m. Chapel services will be Thurs., Dec. 20th at 11:00 a.m., both at Lakewood Funeral Home.
