Nov. 28, 1941 - Apr. 19, 2015
Bob passed away after a brief illness at Oak Valley Hospital surrounded by his three sons and daughter in law. Our father was born in Ajo Arizona to parents Paul and Cleo Snyder. The family moved to Modesto in 1946 so his father could go to work for MJ Ruddy and Son. Dad attended Roosevelt Jr high and Downey high school. A few years after high school Bob moved to southern California and went to work for Delta Airlines as a baggage handler. After returning to Modesto Bob went to work for Walt Brookey as a Land Surveyor. This job turned out to be a very fortuitous opportunity as this became not only our father's career but his passion. Bob spent seven years learning his trade from Mr. Brookey until his passing in 1970. At this time dad was given the opportunity to go to work for R. B. Welty & Associates another civil engineering and land surveying firm in Modesto, eventually earning his own license to practice land surveying in 1978. Dad remained with Welty until 1982 at which time he decided to start his own surveying company, this lasted until 1999, when he returned to work for R. B. Welty & Associates where he worked until he retired in 2007. Bob was a proud member of CLSA, Operating Engineers Local 3, and the NRA. Bob is survived by sons Brent (Denette) of Oakdale, Brian of Modesto, and Mark of Riverbank. Grandchildren Brandon and Justin Snyder of Oakdale and Kyle and Kelsi Snyder of Modesto. He was preceeded in death by his parents Paul and Cleo, uncle Herman Snyder, one brother Paul jr. and daughter in law Carolyn Snyder.
