Roy Denzil Goodman

Roy Denzil Goodman, age 94, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012. Born to parents Melvin and Bertha Goodman, he was the sixth of eight children. He graduated from Modesto High School and worked in the family business at Empire Service Station and Goodman Service Company and Garage. At the age of 17, he began driving trucks for the family owned Goodman Service Trucking and at age 20, he was driving the first semi trucks and trailers. In 1942, they sold the trucking company and began farming 640 acres called Triangle Ranch. Roy continued to farm until retirement. He married Alyce Showalter in 1939 and had 2 children; Michael and Jerry Goodman. He joined the Navy in 1945. In 1960, he married Oressa Hazelene Rowland and became the loving father to 3 children; Alan, Ronald and Linda Rowland. Roy attended Calvary Temple Worship Center in Modesto. Roy is survived by children: Michael Goodman of Modesto, CA, Jerry Goodman of Oakdale, CA, Ronald Rowland of Las Vegas, NV and Linda White from Los Banos, CA, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Oressa Goodman and his son, Alan Rowland. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 21 at 11:00am at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA.
