Ruth Evangeline Pyatt, beloved wife, mother, nana, and great nana passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024. She loved her family and the Lord Jesus Christ with her whole heart. She was the daughter of a minister (pk) and never strayed from living for the Lord.
Ruth was born in Lancaster, California, to Raymond and Mildred McNally. The family moved regularly, until settling in Modesto, California in 1953, when her father took a position with the Four Square Church. Ruth attended Downey High School. She met the love of her life, Harry, in 1956, at a high school football game. They were inseparable ever since, marrying on February 2, 1957.
Over the next four years, they welcomed four sons whom she leaves behind: Jim (Karen), Greg, Harry “Lee”, and Steve (Kris); five grandchildren; and three great grandsons.
Ruth loved working alongside Harry farming almonds until they purchased Lullaby Land and Whites for Boys in 1977 (stores that were Modesto staples). She loved socializing with all her customers and staff and was in her element when they went on buying trips for the store and herself. They retired from the business in 1991.
You could not keep Ruth still for long. She loved to take drives with Harry and later with her son Lee; loved eating out; loved her cookies; and loved her family.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Eldon and Jerry; and her twin sister, Rachel Alldrin. The family is confident she is reunited with them in heaven.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bethel Assisted Living and Community Hospice for the excellent care of Ruth over the past three years.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 9:30 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95350 or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
