Sally Ramirez

Sally Castanon Ramirez died peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and family on October 19, 2024. She was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior and the love of her life, husband Ramiro who preceded her in death in 1981, and her son Francisco in 1999. In each of her 99 years of life she exemplified the notion that family is everything as she confidently extolled that teaching on multiple generations through her actions and words until the very end.

Sally was born on May 27, 1925 to Francisco and Isabel Castanon in Los Angeles California. Sally was the only daughter with an older brother Raul, and younger brother Frank. She lived a life filled with tremendous passion and service towards others. From the earliest of years, Sally always exuded perfection in her presentation of herself with her attention to the smallest details while leaving the confidence in her wake that ensured she would never have to say she was sorry. Whether donning a red apron for loading and driving a tractor in the family business, working in the cannery, or the gentle and constant care for members of the family- Sally dedicated her life to helping with the care of her father, husband, 2 brothers and her mother until their deaths.

While never complaining Sally had a quiet power that insisted she be heard. No matter what anyone said, she made her decisions, supported those decisions – constantly embraced loyalty and family and to the very end…when she made it very clear she wanted to be in her home until the end. With dignity and class, she did it her way.

Sally was a true Matriarch, a teacher for us all and a beacon of kindness and love for those around her. Her departure leaves an unfillable void in our lives as we search for comfort in the memories and everlasting love we shared. She leaves behind, her devoted children, Gilbert (Marty), Isabel (Victor), and Mario (Wendy), as well as 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild who will continue in the tradition of family, caring for each other, planning for the next generation and spritzing a bit of that channel #5 (her favorite) along the way. Even in our grief, above all- we will always carry the knowledge that we were blessed to have belonged to our beloved Sally.

A visitation for Sally will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326. A graveside service will occur Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
