Tonie J. Robertson went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2017. He passed away quietly at his home in Riverbank. He was born to the late Calvin and Myrtle (Plumlee) Robertson on May 30, 1927 in the Township of North Fork, Arkansas. He spent his childhood and teen years attending elementary and
high school in Promised Land, Arkansas. While in his late teens, the family moved to Oroville, California. It was here, at the age of eighteen, he joined the United States Marine Corp and served his country honorably. After leaving the Marines he began working as an apprentice in floor covering and eventually became a contractor in this field.
On December 18, 1959 he began his true calling and was ordained as a minister by the Oroville Missionary Baptist Church. It was at this time that he attended the Landmark Christian Academy in Sacramento, California. He spent the next fifty four years faithfully serving as a pastor.
He is preceded in death by his brothers William, Rex, Harlin, Marvin, sisters Stella, Stacie and grandson, Joshua Kearns. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Vesta, brother Conie (Joyce) Robertson of Reno, Nevada, brother-in-law Lloyd Pickering of Oroville, children Belinda (Don) Duerksen of Modesto, Doug Robertson of Oakdale and Cheryl Garcia of Oakdale. Grandchildren Larimie Garcia, Mathias Garcia, Christopher Robertson, Ashleigh Wallace and Cambry Costello. Great grandchildren Carmyn and Ty Costello, Logan and Emilee Wallace. Step-grandsons Tyler and Zachary Duerksen and their families and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be at Lakewood Funeral Home - Riverside Chapel on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Funeral Services will be at Lakewood Funeral Home - Riverside Chapel on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.
