On Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, Clarence “Wayne” Black-loving husband and father of 5 daughters passed away at age 83. Born just outside of El Dorado Oklahoma in 1938, he was proceeded in death by his cherished parents Clarence Arthur and Mattie Ruth, his sister Joan Pyle, and beloved grandson Matthew Burkett.
He resided in Salida, California and Modesto, California. He was a graduate of Modesto High School, Class of 1956 and later received an associate degree in Sociology/Psychology while working and raising his girls. He served in the United States Army. On June 15th, 1958, he married the love of his life, Connie Mac.
Wayne worked diligently for his family. Among smaller jobs he performed to assist in providing for his growing family, he held positions installing hardwood flooring, Pepsi Cola, and Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall, where he retired after twenty-eight years.
Wayne enjoyed several hobbies including: photography, genealogy, and music; but by far his favorite was taking road trips. He was known and loved for his quick wit, kindness, and compassionate spirit, if you ever got to read his numerous stories about his life and adventures you definitely got to glimpse and know why he dubbed himself Wayne the pain.
He is survived by his wife Connie, his five daughters: Dewyn, Robin (Rich), Carrie (Brian), Joelle (Francis), and Dana (Scott), nine grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 nephews, and other friends and family to numerous to mention but not forgotten- he loved them all.
Services will be held on Friday, May 6th, 2022; 1PM at Lakewood Memorial in Hughson, California. Burial will be private; however, a reception will be immediately following the services at Lakewood Funeral Home, Riverside Hospitality Room.
